Clothing
The standard of dress in Boston varies from casual to formal, depending on the occasion. Casual clothing is
generally acceptable in most restaurants and bars, as well as in most academic settings. Of course, there are
some fine establishments where jackets and ties are needed. We recommend lightweight clothing for summer
along with sunglasses and sun-screen. In winter, hats, scarves, jackets and sweaters will keep you warm.
Bringing an umbrella is recommended as it does rain from time to time in each season.
Time
Boston is on the East Coast of the United States and is on Eastern Standard Time (EST), which is five hours
behind GMT. From about Early April through late October, Boston, along with other east coast states, switches
to Daylight Savings time, which is 4 hours behind GMT. Boston is three hours ahead of California and other
West Coast Destinations.
