Ian McGeoch, B.A.
School Manager
From: Amherst, MA, USA
Ian is from Amherst, Massachusetts. He completed his B.A. in International Relations and German at Tufts University in 2010. Ian’s attention to detail and technical acumen make him a valuable addition to the GEOS Administration team. He loves learning new languages and meeting new people from all over the world. He is currently training to be an ESL teacher so we hope to welcome him to our teaching team in the near future. |

Ikuko Yanase, B.A.

From: Chiba, Japan
Ikuko has worked for GEOS Japan, GEOS Hawaii and now GEOS Boston. Before joining the GEOS team, she worked in Munich, Germany for two years at Mitsukoshi Department Store. It is not the first time Ikuko has visited Boston. She originally studied in Boston when she was a student at Showa University so she understands what it is like for new students when they arrive here. Ikuko is excited to have the opportunity to use the knowledge and experience she gained as a Boston student in supporting other students so they can adjust quickly to life at GEOS. |

Michelle Pielorz, B.A., M.A.

From: New Jersey, NJ, USA
After growing up in New Jersey, Michelle moved to London, England where she obtained a B.A. in Tourism Management with German in 2003, a CELTA in 2005, and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages in 2011. She has worked in the travel and tourism industry since 1999 and has been teaching English and working in academic coordination since 2005. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe and has taught students from all over the globe in England, Poland, and the US. Michelle has just recently returned to the United States after traveling and living abroad for eleven years and is happy to be continuing her work with international students. |

Calvin Johnson, B.A.

From: West Bridgewater, MA, USA
Calvin is from West Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He completed his B.A. in Political Science and Leadership & Global Understanding at La Salle University in 2009. Calvin came to GEOS after teaching mathematics and mentoring students in Philadelphia, Houston and Mississippi. Before teaching, Calvin studied aboard in India, Brazil and China so he understands the challenges and opportunities available to international students. He enjoys helping students find quality homestays, so feel free to ask! |

Azumi Watanabe

Azumi has taught English in Japan, and Japanese in Australia. She has worked for public schools and language institutes as a teacher as well as an administrator. She loves being around students so she can help them and share her overseas experiences. Azumi also loves meeting people from around the world, learning about different cultures and trying out new cuisines! |

Mark Heagney, B.A.

Mark lived and taught English in Japan and California before returning to his native Boston as the Head teacher at GEOS Boston. Mark’s depth of knowledge of the TOEFL examination and his sense of humor combine to help his students relax so they can reach their potential and get the score that they are aiming for. He is energetic and focused on giving the most to his students. Among other things, Mark enjoys reading, listening to music and going out to eat with friends. |

Greg Malivuk, B.A.

After getting his B.A. in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Michigan, Greg decided to teach English as a foreign language. He earned a CELTA certificate in Mexico in 2006, and stayed for a year gaining experience as an ESL teacher. Greg moved to Boston in January 2008 and has been teaching at GEOS ever since. In his free time, Greg enjoys reading, getting together with friends every week and learning, in as many languages as possible, how to say that he does not speak those languages! |

Ashley Blum, B.A., M.A.

From: Oshkosh, WI, USA
Ashley has been teaching ESL since 2004; mostly in the USA. She spent her undergraduate years at Smith College in western Massachusetts and then got her master's degree in Professional Psychology. After college she spent two years teaching on a Fulbright Fellowship in South Korea. Ashley was able to learn and understand Korean culture from her students, her friends and the world around her. She truly enjoyed her experience there and she still misses the food! Ashley has traveled to Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, the UK, the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, France and Hungary. She hopes to go to many more Countries in the future. |

Heather has lived and taught English in South Africa and South Korea. She is currently studying for her Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language. Heather loves learning about and experiencing different cultures. She has traveled to 17 different countries and has a growing list of other countries she would like to visit. In her free time Heather enjoys visiting museums, having board-game nights with friends, trying different types of food and exploring the world around her. |

Christian Amport, B.S., M.B.A.

From: Wilton, CT, USA
Christian originally studied architecture at Carnegie Mellon University before transferring to study teaching, art and philosophy at the University of Vermont. Teaching ESL began for Christian while in school in 2002 when he taught English in Anshan, China through Beijing Normal University. A passionate artist and designer, Christian returned to the field of architecture and practiced design until returning to school in 2008 to receive the degree of Master of Business Administration from Boston College. Christian says he enjoys teaching at GEOS because of the other great teachers and especially because the students are motivated and so much fun to work with. |

Peter Michaud, B.A.
Teacher
Following a double-major in History and Economics at McGill University, Peter earned his CELTA certificate and started teaching for GEOS Montreal. Like many GEOS students, Peter wanted to explore the world and learn a second language, so he moved to France and enrolled in an independent French school. After a year of living and traveling in Europe, he returned to Canada and GEOS Montreal. Now he’s back in his native USA, and is thrilled to continue his ESL teaching career with GEOS Boston. He loves history, geography, and playing the guitar, but most of all he loves teaching and talking to people from around the world. |

Rob is from Amherst, New Hampshire. He taught ESL in South Korea and China. He has a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art and is studying for his Master's of Education Degree in TESOL now. He has a TEFL certification and enjoys hiking and drawing. |
